The countdown is on … four days to go to see if my roommate situation will continue.

My thing is this, I believe in paying it forward. When I couldn't and almost didn't make it, friends came-a-calling and helped to kept my head above water. Had it not been for them, I would have sunk! Therefore, I personally understand what it feels like to be down on your luck and unable to stabilize your life. And because of this understanding I also believe that I'm to pay it forward. And thus, Mark came into my life.  He needed help!

Since being here Mark and I have had some issues that had to be addressed. As for me, its taken some getting use to sharing my space with someone else. For the past five years, it's only been my four legged kids and myself, so giving up some of my space to someone else took some getting use to. And no doubt the same for him.

I will give Mark credit. He has helped by bringing food into the house. He's also very neat and helps to keep the house picked up. On a personal level, we interact comfortably and when possible I give him a lift to wherever he needs to be in order to find employment. Therefore, I have to admit that having Mark around has been good. But now it's time to get down to business.

It's now two months! Mark came to stay in January. I don't mind continuing to help him, but it's time for him to stand on his own feet. So this month I informed Mark that beginning March 1st., he would have to begin contributing financially. Like I said, I believe in paying it forward, but there comes a time when the recipient has to begin standing on their own. I can't carry the extra financial burden alone. And so our co-existence is having to readjusted itself.

I really hope that Mark doesn't let me down. I would be very disappointed if he did. However, for now, all I can do is trust that our living arrangement can continue as long as he brings his share to the table of survival.

As for paying it forward, it has allowed me to appreciate even more the help that my friends gave in my time of need.

Until Tomorrow ...
