This election cycle is brought to you by your local and national newsroom. Not only do we need Congressional house cleaning, but we also need to demand better coverage of our presidential and Congressional runs for office.

Had the news cycle not put Trump on a pedestal he would not have the "presidential" popularity he has today. Electing a president is not like a reality show and should not be taken lightly. There is a lot at stake in this election and sadly the news cycle has made light of the issues and replaced it with sensationalism.

Do I have faith in the electorate? For the most part yes. But what is worrisome is that many will waste their vote based on 10-second sound bites and sensationalism rather than voting on the facts. And in this election cycle the voter must go behind the hype in order to cast an educated vote. What's worse than not casting an educated vote is not voting at all.

Whatever you do, don't allow yourself to get caught up in all the sound bites and sensationalism. Do your homework. Research your candidate and understand where they stand on the issues. Once you have clarity go cast your vote. Remember, by not voting you have no room to complain.
