Fred
Phelps, a minister of the Westboro Baptist Church, died this past
Wednesday. He leaves behind a public legacy of jaded controversy
unbefitting a man of the cloth. His public ministry was filled with
messages of disrespect and hate of those he deemed were unfit of life
and unacceptable in the eyes of God.
For Phelps, life now comes full circle. He now stands at the cross roads of eternity and must give an account for his life and time on earth. How will his judge hold Phelps accountable? We can only guess. But one thing is certain, at least in this life, Phelps will never be able to hurt others in such unforgiving ways and for that I am grateful.
