“Trillion-dollar coin idea, once thought joke, now under serious study. ”What if Washington’s next debt clash, widely expected to be as bitter as the “fiscal cliff” fight, could be resolved with the minting of a $1 trillion coin? That is the idea being pushed by a handful of policy wonks and columnists, and it has caught the attention of lawmakers even though it is an unlikely solution. Under the proposal, the U.S. Treasury would use an obscure commemorative-coin law to mint at least one platinum coin and deposit it at the Federal Reserve, giving the government breathing space as it bumps up against the $16.4 trillion borrowing limit.”” by Eric Morath in The Wall Street Journal.

Are you kidding me? If ANYONE as much as supports the idea of minting a trillion-dollar coin ... you need to have your head examined!

There are plenty of areas the government can cut expenses. Like, end corporate welfare, bring the troupes home, stop supporting illegals, cap congressional pay raises, do away with pork barrels, and the list goes on.

Minting a trillion-dollar coin is nothing more than borrowing money we don't have ... it's down right stupid! What's even stupider is our politicians who are entertaining such an idea. If they push this notion any further, then it goes to prove that they have no intentions of reducing spending and balancing the budget.
