If you need help, might I recommend Catholic Charities!?!

For about the past month, Catholic Charities has been a wonderful resource to rely on. They provide an array of services to help individuals get their life back on track to becoming self-sufficient through their case management program. They also provide some financial assistance and stock a good food pantry.

With all that has been going on in my life, keeping myself focused and on track hasn’t been easy. Before going to Catholic Charities, my life was being pulled in so many different directions that it became difficult for me to concentrate on any single issue and seeing it through. The end result, despair followed by depression, thus causing me to loose touch with reality.

I tell ya, living life with ADD and topping it off with being bipolar, life can become hell and when this occurs it’s a scary place to be. This is why several weeks ago I was hospitalized for observations. Anyway, back to Catholic Charities.

Since signing up with Catholic Charities case management program, I’ve been able to focus more clearly. In my situation, what case management does is provides me with referrals for the specific needs I may have, tools to guide me along the way, and goals that I must meet in order to get myself to the next level in becoming self-reliant. Then every two to three weeks I go in to meet with my case manager at which time we review and discuses my “homework” and sets new goals. I tell ya, it works!

My goals for the last two weeks was getting my car un-repossessed, find financial assistance to help with my cancer treatments, establish counseling, and find a support group. I’ve accomplished repossessing my car, but as for the rest, it is still a work in progress which is to be completed by my next visit.

I can say that Catholic Charities has been a life saver and without a doubt I would recommend their services to anyone. No, unlike some religious groups, you don’t have to be a Catholic to receive help. They accept anyone regardless of religious preference, situation or circumstances.

Out of all denominations I’ve contacted over the past two months, Catholic Charities was one of two denominations (the other was Forestbrook Community Church) that came to my aid. The rest, and this is heartbreaking, not a single response! Even my own church didn’t as much as acknowledge my plea for help. Anyway, here’s a link to Catholic Charities’ website … if you need help I highly recommend you getting in touch with them.
