Over the past several months I’ve received complaints about material posted on my blogs. Generally speaking, the feedbacks have been positive, but there are those who believe that the material I post is either to far left or right winged, sacrilegious, unimportant, insignificant, irrelevant, trashy, anti-American/Government, and the list goes on.
Last year I received complaints from some “God Fearing” individuals who requested that I separate religious and secular material because they felt that it was sacrilegious to include both under the same banner. Well, much to my dismay, I did as requested, thus The Odeum Blog was created. Since, I’ve created Faith, :Pj DeZigns, and my latest My Journal Blogs.
Now, I realize I can’t make everyone happy. No matter what type of material I post someone ain’t gonna to be happy … there are those in this world who are just anit-happy and like to spew their unhappiness wherever they can. These individuals, well, as sad as this may sound, I simply ignore. No matter how I may try and make these individuals “happy” they ain’t gonna be, so why freaking try!
What really amazes me are those who visit my blogs, take the time to read it and watch the videos, then turn around and complain about the material they read or watched because they were “offended” about what they “enjoyed”, yet found “distasteful”. Hello!?! Can we say oxymoron????
I mean, on my main blog, Life At The Beach, I clearly inform my visitors that “This Is A Politically Incorrect Blog Zone … If You Are Easily Offended Exit Now.” Hmm! I wonder if this warning doesn’t SIGNAL that, yeah!!!!, there is material that, YEAH!!!!, they are not going to like, and, YES!!!!, they might be offended? Honestly, more times than not, I simply take a deep breath and with a grin on my face shake my head. Hey what else can I do?
My position is this. Freedom of the press (this includes the internet or forums like mine), and the freedom of speech is what I’m all about … As an American Citizen, this is my given right! Now, there are articles, videos, and pictures, etc., I simply will not post.
Though I may have certain freedoms, there comes with it responsibility. Therefore, I exercise restraint as we all should. Cause honey let me tell you, there is stuff out there that will truly rape ones virginity right off their bones and it ain’t pretty. So, yes, I consider my readership’s sensitivity and post accordingly.
Last but not least, knowledge is power! I’m a firm believer in the concept that the more we know about something, the better we understand, the better we see, the better equipped we are to deal with it and choose what is right for us and our society. Being one sided on any issue is a dangerous slippery slope … something that seems to be increasingly acceptable in this New America we now live in. Wake Up You-all!
On the other side of the spectrum I’ve received critical critiques … such things as, I’m an asshole, a degenerate, a fag, a moron, a woman hater, an abomination to God, and again the list goes on.
Wow! It’s amazing the measure by which people judge. Then again, I’m not surprised. Guess it’s the only way these individuals know how to feel good about themselves, so, go ahead, feel good!
When I get upset, my buddy always tells me, “it’s not what you say, it’s how you say it.” But in this situation all bets are off and here’s my freaking response.
Yes!, I can be an asshole! Ask any of my Friends and they will certainly concur. Then so can 99% of the world. Let me take this one step further. Since I’m in touch with my feminine side, I can also be a real bitch. Again, so can 99% of the world, thus I consider myself in a pretty prestigious circle of humanity.
As for being a degenerate, lets see, I have the following choices. I am either: 1) became unlike one’s race; 2) not genuine; 3) have sunk below a former or normal condition or character; 4) morally corrupt or depraved, etc.* Okay, guilty as charged! As a human being who has been saved by grace, GUILTY, GUILTY, GUILTY! All of humanity has degenerated thus in need of God’s grace to restore ourselves to His glory. Therefore, I am not ashamed to admit that I am guilty as charged. Again, I’m in good company.
Now, hitting me below the belt, my gloves come off. As for being a fag, sorry!, hate to disappoint, but one thing I’m not is a fag. Never have been nor ever will be! Furthermore, I hate the word itself. Calling someone a fag is equal to calling a woman the “C” word or a black person the “N” word … hate it, hate it, hate it! Now what you say in private I could care less, but when you verbalize it, specially write to me calling me such, I take offense. This is like so unnecessary and honestly it doesn’t reflect well of the human being who writes to me calling me such a name.
Last but not least, the one thing I’m not is a woman hater. This is so far from the truth. I love women … their beauty, their grace, their sensitivity, just everything about them is equal to none. It just happens that God didn’t grant me the desires of a woman sexually, but He sure gave me the appreciation for beauty. And quit honestly, I truly believe that He and I are okay with this. So if this is the nail that people want to crucify me with then go ahead. Society looks at the outer shell, God looks upon the heart … as long as my heart is genuine my bible says that God is good with it. As for being a moron, god!, not even close … I’m not even going to go there on this one. And as for being an abomination, well, the good book states; by what measure you judge will you be judged (paraphrased).
In conclusion, to those I’ve offended, I apologize that materials posted wasn’t suitable to their taste. On the other hand, I don’t apologize for the content posted.
To those who so warmly critiqued my character, God loves you and so do I. Just remember, you shouldn’t throw stones in glass houses, and by all means don't call me the "F" word!
Last but not least, to all those who have criticized and critiqued me, I hope they will continue to keep reading … who knows, they may learn something new about themselves and maybe find happiness within and around them. If they don’t, well, what can I say?
