Yesterday, I almost lost my home!

My daily morning routine includes washing up any left over dishes from the night before. I turned on and waited for the water to get warm, but it didn’t ... all the faucet would yield was cold water. Since this had happened a few days back I check the hot water heater’s circuit breaker … sure enough it had tripped itself off. Naturally, I flipped it over and when I did I heard an unsettling popping and crackling sound so I immediately called my landlord.

About a half hour later I got a whiff of what seemed like something electrical was burning. Following the order, I ended up standing in front of where the water heater is housed. About this time the landlord walked in. I quickly explained what was going on and he immediately took the wall apart exposing the hot water heater. Well, low and behold, the order was fiber glass insulation burning. Yup, the hot water heater was on fire.

Thank God in heaven I didn’t have to be anywhere. Had I not been home my house would have gone up in flames, along with Sumo, Purlie or Buddy. Wow, I am so glad that my place was to be exactly where I was supposed to be … at home! Otherwise, it would have turned out to be a very bad day.

The landlord was visibly upset and profusely apologized. He then installed a new floor and a new hot water heater. Two hours later I had hot water and a roof over our heads. What would have ended up a tragic situation, thankfully had a happy ending … Praise God!

Until Tomorrow ...
