Last evening I was invited to go see Victor Victoria at the Theater of the Republic in Conway, SC. Though I enjoyed the play I had no clue there were two versions of it … one gay, the other straight or “straight”.
Yes, I knew the premise of the play is about a woman who pretends to be a man, who becomes a star, who falls in love … yada, yada, yada. But last evenings performance, in my opinion, was a bit to “gay” for me. Course, in reading the play bill the sole sponsor of the play was one of Myrtle Beach’s gay night club, Time Out, also known as Tired Out. Therefore, it shouldn’t have been any surprise to me that the play would accentuate a gayer theme.
Maybe I need to go and watch the movie to see if my assumption is based on fact. Anyway, I enjoyed the evening and the experience brought to my attention that I’m totally uncomfortable in a totally gay crowd … go figure!
Until Tomorrow ...
