Yesterday, I took my buddy, Steven, to Applebee’s for his birthday. Unfortunately, it wasn’t the best experience and caused me to remember why I stayed away from the establishment … the last time I ate there was some five years ago.

As for the company, it was excellent … hey, it was my buddy, Steven! The atmosphere was good, as long as you didn’t have to sit in or near the smoking section. Steven’s meal was excellent … he had the spinach dip (it was REALLY good). I ordered the peppercorn stake which came to the table charcoal burnt and looked like dead cow on a plate … I refused it and reordered the Asian Shrimp Skillet. At least this dish looked appetizing. After diner we went ridding around after which we came back at my place to have dessert … I made Steven’s favorite, carrot cake with cream cheese icing.

The only complaint of the evening, lets just say that the service at Applebee's was a tad bit lower than mediocre. Had to ask for napkins, silver wear, drinks. I ended up bring my meal home. By time my food got to the table and waiting for extra sauce my meal got cold ... to top it off, the "warm" sauce arrived stone cold. By this time, Steven was almost done with his meal. Yeah, it wasn't the most enjoyable Applebee's experience. I get better service at McDonald's.

Okay, maybe the waiter was having a bad night or something. But one thing’s for sure, it will be a long time before I go back to eat at Applebee’s. The sad part is, they used to be one of my favorite places to eat! But now, this experience reinforced the reason as to why I hadn’t eaten there in years. As Steven put it, if you order stake anything other than rear or medium they NEVER cook it right … he is so right! You would think that Applebee’s being a stake house would hire someone that knows how to cook a good stake! Sadly, NOT! Anyway, if (key word) I do go back I will definitely order the spinach dip … that was good!

Sorry buddy that my dinner caused us to not have as good of a meal as I had hoped. Though I agree that I can be a picky dinner, I do expect attentive service. Had the waiter at least tried then I'd be more than pleased. But he didn't even come close. Sloppy service I can get at home. I'm just saying ... LOL

On a scale of 1 to 5 … I give our dinning experience a teetering 3.

Until Tomorrow …
