As the cold gives way to warm ocean breezes, daffodils and azaleas dotting the landscape, and Bradford trees yielding their blooms, you know spring’s arrived. Oh yeah, the pollen too … for me it’s a horrible time of year. Nevertheless, the awakening of mother nature, spring fever, and pail white skin (I can’t wait to enjoy the outdoors, specially the beach) all points to one thing … thank god winter’s over.
In my opinion, this past winter was the coldest I’ve felt since living here. This year’s winter was more bone chilling than other’s past. So, yup!, I gladly welcome the arrival of spring and all its pomp and circumstance … Spring is my favorite season. Now if we could do without all that pollen then it would be perfect. Oh well, such is life.
Compared to years past, this Easter was the exception. Thankfully I was able to have the day off, take in some spiritual renewal and spend time with my buddy and friends. I also pruned shrubs and cleaned my flowerbeds readying my yard for the summer.
The entire Easter weekend was so gorgeous with blue sky’s dotted with cotton like clouds drifting by that being cooped up in the house would have been unforgiving. Yup, the weekend was absolutely refreshing mentally, spiritually and emotionally!
Below are some pictures taken over the weekend. Beginning with the most current, my buddy and I went down to the beach Monday to walk Myrtle Beach’s last downtown upgrade … the boardwalk. Have to say what an improvement … long overdue to be sure! Now, if the shops along the boardwalk will clean up their act … reface and spruce up their stores, as well as bring in some cafes and restaurants then the cosmetics of the boardwalk will be more complete and appealing. I do think that they should build an outdoor beach theater/entertainment complex where such events like summer concerts and festivals could be held.
The second set of pictures ... my Easter gift from my buddy. I tell you, he sure surprised me with the arrangement. I had seen it sitting in his cooler Saturday and at first glance I feel in love with it, specially because of the watering can. It is so cute! Course, the tulips just accentuated the container. Anyway, I had expressed my liking of it too him and to my surprise, cause he don’t often bring me flowers, he had it in hand when he came over to hang out Easter Sunday afternoon. Tell ya, he sure knows how to wow me!
Pictures of Sumo, my black lab, comes in at number three. I tell ya, he’s such a good friend … he’s my pride and joy. This kid has been a faithful companion since 2002. I can’t imagine not having him around. Over the past two years he’s slowed down, but he hasn’t lost his unique and pleasant character … he’s still a puppy at heart.
And last but not least, though the pictures were taken the week before Easter, my buddy and I spent the afternoon at the Myrtle Beach State Park where we both got in some much needed skin care. It was such a beautiful day and spending it at the beach catching some rays was a perfect way to welcome the arrival of spring. We both came away with a nice coat of color. Now maintaining it is going to be a challenge. Nevertheless, just being able to enjoy the beach before all the tourists arrive was enjoyable. Once the throngs come a calling the beach will be crowded and we both avoid crowds as much as possible. Honestly, the beaches here are beautiful!
Well, I hope you were able to make memories during your Easter holiday’s, and that the season was a time in which your heart and soul was recharged with the positive message that Easter is all about … hope and joy in knowing that our Savior is very much alive and that He loves us all unconditionally.
Enjoy the slide shows.
Until next time …
