I feel compelled to let off a little steam, as well as answer one of my reader responses.

Taxes:

I believe that recycling is a good thing. We should all recycle to try and save our planet! Frankly, I don’t know if it’s really going to help since what damage is done really can’t be fixed cause we’re still polluting the earth. Yes we can slow it down, but the Band-Aid affect is exactly that … a finger in the dyke to prevent it from blowing. Nonetheless, about taxes.

Since I pay taxes for all those recycling centers around town why should I take it upon myself to sort my trash? I’m under the assumption that my tax dollars goes to pay for someone to sort the trash it takes in? Therefore, if the city wants me to recycle then it should pay me to do the job at home. Then again, I’d have to pay taxes on what I’m paid from the city. Talk about a no win situation.

I believe every child deserves a good education. Without one you cannot compete in life’s reality. However, now days those graduating from high school seem really dumb and naive. They can hardly speak the English language, can hardly write a sentence, can’t fill out an employment application and have no clue how to put a resume together. What’s up with this and why is it that my tax dollars are producing stupider graduates?

I believe it’s time to shift what taxes I pay into public education onto those who use the system. I have no children who use the school system and never will. Therefore, I do not feel it’s fair that I have to support a system that I do not utilize, have a voice in and are doing a freaking poor job at teaching. Parents who send their children to public school should be the ones who pay … at least half of their child’s education. This free education bull crap needs to end and just maybe parents will take their children’s education more seriously, hold the school system to a higher standard, thus producing more intelligent graduates. And to think that those graduating from high school is going to be making decisions for me in the future ... um, SCARY!!!!

Being incarcerated in today’s prison system is like staying a local Holiday Inn. Inmates get three squares a day, clothing, housing, education, gyms, and whatever else free … all at tax payers expense. This is simply wrong! Since those who deserve to be locked up are there due to their own doings, not mine, why shouldn’t they be the ones to pay for their own incarceration.

Here’s a plan. Since cities are having to cut back financially why not put those who are serving time to work? Since we don’t have to pay prisoners legal wages put them to work … yeah, like change gangs or work details, etc. Let them pick up trash and garbage. Let them pick the crops that need to be harvested. Let them patch the pot holes. In other words, let them earn their way just like any normal Joe blow … the only difference, Joe blow is free. The guilty have to return to the cage where they deserve to be. Nonetheless, by putting inmates to work might be the best rehabilitation going. Let them learn responsibility and what it means to be normal contributing citizens instead of free loading and expecting those of us who play by the rules pay for their Holiday Inn accommodations. Oh wait, we’ve got illegals who do the work … how stupid of me!

Each time I get a pay check the taxes that are withheld goes to Uncle Sam. Out of those taxes we pay the salaries of all those dumb asses who represent us in the House and Senate. They eat in four star restaurants, stay in five star hotels, party hardy, own prime real estate, fly first class, have the best health care, and the list goes on. The perks they enjoy is simply unbelievable and in many cases most unworthy off the benefits and perks they accumulate.

Since it is us, the American people, who pay these fat cats their wages and provide bountiful benefits why is it that we can’t hand them pink slips or even firer their asses? Yes, we have an election in which we elect seats, but if in mid-term they screw up we should be able to get rid of them. The more taxes I give to Washington and the more I watch our leaders act like a-holes the less I trust our government who now days seems to be about doing the bidding of the devil more than that of the people. Like it is said; “power corrupts” and many, if not most, in Washington are just that, corrupt.

Maddy, the majority of those who condemn and wish to kill gays and lesbians are Christian’s.

I do not understand why Christian’s sit quietly and watch those who are gay or lesbian be mistreated and often times killed simply because of who they are. You will protect the unborn a lot faster than you will someone who just happens to be gay or lesbian … what’s up with this?

If our society did the same to Christian’s there would be such an outcry over it and they would demand, yes demand!, the government to put an end to the killings. However, it seems that most Christian’s believe and as one individual put it; “one fag killed, one less to worry about.” How freaking sad is this? How Christ-like can this be?

It's no wonder many gays and lesbians have nothing to do with religion and Christian's, let alone have any kind of faith simply because of what they see coming out of religion and those who claim to be a part of it. I certainly feel the same way too though my feelings are softening, not towards the church, but with each individual person of faith I meet who proves to me that they are genuine with who they are. If they aren't then I have nothing to do with them ... their religious beliefs can simply kiss my behind and move on!

It’s time for Christian’s to take a look at how they are representing themselves to the world. You cannot sit in your weekly church seat and glorify God then turn around the next minute and hate someone simply because of who they are. Remember, the church was made for sinners, therefore you are just as guilty and no better than anyone else … even gay’s and lesbian’s. Now how does it feel to be grouped in a list of your undesirables?

Gay’s and Lesbian’s are real people … like it or not, they are a child of God. They simply want to be treated fairly … not like some leper to be discarded as trash. Therefore, I post gay issues on my Faith blog in hopes to change hearts and minds. It's time for Christians to face their demons and truly become what they are supposed to be ... Christ-like, accepting, loving, caring and all those good things we are to become if we are going to inherit the new earth cause honey, let me tell you, there are going to be some undesirables there so you might as well shape up now otherwise you ain't gonna like it up there let alone make it up there!

It’s time for Christian’s to really practice what they preach if hearts are going to be mended and heaven on earth can be achieved. Remember, the day is coming when God himself might say to you “I knew you not” because of how you treated others with indifference and hate. The reward for His strong words … banishment from eternal light and joy. And all the gay’s and lesbian’s said, Amen!

Friendships:

The need for friendship is sometimes greater than the friendship needed.

My lesson in friendship has been eye opening and at times painful. I used to think that having lots of friends would make me happy, however on the contrary. Many made life unhappy and miserable. Some abused their stay. Few crossed the line of accepted behavior. Nonetheless, my need for friendship outweighed the misery I was experiencing. And due to my need (primarily because of not wanting to feel lonely) I accepted their friendship on their terms and allowed myself to lower my standards in order to fit into their world. How wrong I was!

As most of you know I’ve since cleaned house and have distanced myself from many of my former so called friends. Their unhealthy lifestyle and attitudes, as well as their demeaning behavior was cause to clear my life out and I have to admit that it was worth the effort. However, it left one big void in my life ... companionship.

Since my life has settle down and those who are in my life circle today I truly appreciate with all that I am. These Friends have graced as well as blessed my days beyond imagination. I have learned through these Friends that what we share can be pleasurable and without pain. Can be beautiful and wholesome. Can up lift rather than tear down. I am truly grateful to know what pure Friendship is all about. However, Friends can only fill one aspect of one’s life … the one thing tremendously lacking in my life is personal companionship.

The lack of companionship is the biggest void in my life. This is what lead me down the self destructive path before. Though I’m involved with someone I still feel that what we share is at arms length … in many cases two whole arms length. What time we spend together is measured in how much time there is to spare and while together the meter is running. And though I’m assured that I need never to question our relationship, the whole involvement gets very frustrating and causes me to question the validity of the relationship. Perhaps the opening line is what I need to take a look at again … just substitute friendships with companionship? I don’t know, cause on the other side of the coin is my heart. From day one it was captured and since I’ve never looked back. And honestly, though our companionship might not be all that, in so many other ways it is! I’m just saying! Oh, as for returning to those self-destructive day's, no way! Those day's are behind me.

Which brings me to this little joke …

A wife and her husband were in bed.
The husband turns to his wife and asks, can we have sex?
The wife replies, no!
The husband asks, is that your final answer?
The wife replies, yes!
Then the husband turns to his wife and asks,
Can I phone a friend?
