I still believe that the position of the United States concerning the unrest in Iran should continue to be mute. I still believe that the Muslim community worldwide betrayed us back on 9/11 by not denouncing the horrific murdering of our citizens. On the other hand, I cannot help but feel contempt for the government of Iran and not for its people. What is going on there is not only about steeling an election. It is more about the legitimacy of the government itself … much like how we questioned the same of our government back in 2004.
As for the video posted above, though I do not understand the language, the picture show tells a brief story about the Iranian people and their fight against corruption. Many will loose their lives and totalitarian rule is certain to come in the days ahead. And though I have smoldering resentment towards the Muslim community, deep in my heart I can’t turn a blind eye against those who stand up against a corrupt regime. If democracy fails oppression rules! And it is for this reason alone I stand behind the people of Iran who are showing the rest of the world that democratic rule must prevail in order to maintain a civil society.
My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Iran. And it is my hope their struggle for justice will bring about social change to a very corrupt regime.
