Poor (Old) Glay Aikin! Now that he’s no longer on top of his game he has to bash runner up on American Idol, Adam Lambert, who is by far a better artist in his own right. Guess it’s Clay’s way of steeling headlines for himself since his career isn’t as bright as it once used to be. Anyway, move over buddy! A new star is shinning and will by far outshine yours.
As usual the bickering in Washington, DC over President Obama’s Supreme Court nomination Sonia Sotomayor is in full swing. The loudest form of criticism is that Judge Sotomayor is a racist for a statement she made back in 2001. Her words were; "I would hope that a wise Latino woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life."
You know, I have to agree with Judge Sotomayor! I find absolutely nothing wrong with her statement and those who do, well, what can I say. Get a life? There are better issues to worry about than the statement she made?
Allow me to barrow Judge Sotomayor statement for a second. I would hope that a wise Gay man with the richness of his experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a straight or bisexual man who hasn’t lived that life. Ok, for me to say the same thing with a slight variation does that make me a racist or a bigot? Frankly, I don't think so.
No straight or bisexual man or woman will ever know what it’s like to be gay or lesbian. It’s just the way it is. Unless you walk a mile (in most cases a life-time) in someone’s shoes you have no clue what-so-ever as to what life is like on their side of the fence.
Let me put it another way. Do we know what it’s like to be God? Though some may think and act like they’re God, the answer is no. Therefore, what Judge Sotomayor stated isn’t really all that big of a deal. In looking at her record, though she may appear to be a liberal, I believe that she will bring to the high court a fresh look and feel, not only because she’ll be the first Latino nominated to the Supreme Court, but will bring valuable insight from a differing perspective than what we’ve become accustomed to. After all, for years the Supreme Court was lined with nothing but White Men until a Woman was appointed. Then came the Black Man. We’ve come a long ways baby! And now a Latino? God save the Queen!
I think that Judge Sotomayor will be a welcomed addition to the Supreme Court.
Did you happen to read my post in the Faith section entitled Scientist Piece Together Human Ancestry? Specially the comment section? “Satan” left a message for me … LOL.
I tell you, I’ve been blogging for over a year now and during this time I’ve received some pretty interesting stuff from people, but never a so called message from “Satan”. At first the name kind of freaked me out. I mean, Satan? Wow! I’ve never had anyone send me anything using such a name. So, yeah, I was kind of freaked out. You’ll have to read it for yourself. No, its not anything bad or nasty. Actually, the comment was interesting to read. To read the comment click here.
Saturday night Susan Boyle will sing her last song on Britain's Got Talent that either make or brake her future as a performer. I wish her all the luck in the world!
In closing, I’m about to make a major life changing decision that is going to affect the remainder of my life. It won’t be an easy decision, but definitely a necessary one. Therefore, I ask that you will pray for me as I search my soul in order to reach a satisfactory conclusion.
Until Tomorrow ...
