A Perfect Stranger’s Encouragement
This morning I posted an ad on Craigslist asking for help in purchasing a car … yes, I’m still looking for one. Without wheels, here in Myrtle Beach, you’re pretty much out of circulation since reliable public transportation isn’t available in the city, let alone on it's outskirts. Anyway, below is a response I got from the ad.
At first I kind of cringed thinking that the sender was nothing more than another insincere emailer pushing their own agenda. Well, I was wrong!
Actually, the words of the sender below really perked up my ego and I’m glad to see that I’m of value to someone, particularly a perfect stranger. Like I stated yesterday; we all need our strokes. We all have a yearning to feel needed, appreciated, and loved. Well, the emailer below certainly rewarded my need to feel appreciated … perhaps a lesson we all could learn from!?! Even I sometimes forget that there are those who need their egos stroked. Anyway, enjoy the email.
“Hello, my name is Erich. This is just a letter of encouragement because I myself have had hardships too. The only difference is, my ego wasn't bruised...it was trashed. God Almighty stripped me of my debilitating ego and took most all my pride from me. At least the bad kind! Ya see, if you are a believer...and you truly want what God wants for you...then let Him have it, better yet...GIVE it too Him. You seem to have a GREAT attitude in your time of distress, it encourages me when I see people carry their burdens with a smile on their face. My wife and I truly messed up our finances years ago and it is all coming out now. We both have a heart for giving and if I hadn't squandered all the blessings we received, then we couldve been able to help you. It's time like this I realize that helping others with a generous, self-denying heart is more enjoyable than living for myself. And I just wanted to say I am sorry that I can't help you except in prayer, and your words have moved me to be a more responsible person in the future. My friend, please don't give up and keep smiling.”
